It was 2003 and I was still getting up to speed with my new business.  A couple asked if I would do something that most photographers back then would consider unthinkable – would I shoot their wedding and hand over the film?  It was years before “shoot & burn” became a reality, when clients asked for their negatives or digital files.  It just wasn’t done!

But it was the end of October and at one of my favorite places, the Lodge at Pebble Beach.  All of six people were there to witness it – myself included!  And I just LOVED Tiffany’s sweet demeanor and Jaan’s fantastic sense of humor.  So I said yes!  I think I shot four rolls of film, maybe five, over those two hours and handed them off.  As I left, I was certain I’d never see them again.

Gosh how I love Facebook!  I reconnected with them, seven years later.  She’s still beautiful and sweet and he’s still handsome and charming – and few days ago they came to say hi! They hadn’t had a portrait done in a while so I broke out the camera and did a few cute shots.  Wanna see?

Of note: both of these two are ridiculously talented, creative and intelligent.  Jaan’s ventures in “slim down your biz focus and take it online” spawned Noded, a new way for freelancers to work together and businesses to use the internet to their advantage.  And Tiffany’s blog FromSthlm focuses on independent Swedish designers, making amazing design accessible here in the States.  Both excellent reads!
