I love this place. I love the sunroof over the entire dancefloor, the warm lighting, the fireplaces, the staircase, the dining room, the tapestry behind the cake table. The food is fantastic and the staff is warm and friendly. Highly recommend this venue if you’re looking for a special wedding! However, you do need to be or know a member so ask around to anyone who golfs.

Sonya's art - and Sonya, too!
So last week, my other Leo birthday girls and I went roaring around downtown Campbell. I want my studio to be here someday, have wanted it for the last few years, but am patiently, oh so patiently, waiting for my lease in the PruneYard Towers to be over.
I love the energy and the lighthearted fun of the street. On Friday night it’s alive, sidewalks bustle, people laughing and walking by with gelato from Campbell Cafe, or an espresso from Orchard Valley or a doggie bag from Aqui…or a hip black back with the name Sonya Paz emblazoned across the front, a hint of lime green paper peaking out from up top.

Hmm, which Sonya Paz watch to choose?

Sonya and her adorable assistant welcome us to Sonya's gallery

My new fish watch, limited edition Sonya Paz art on my wrist. Cool.
I bet you could find a bunch of cool things for favors, or attendant gifts or parent gifts in here…say Hi to Sonya next time you’re in downtown Campbell!
Every now and then, I see a gorgeous altar, one that the bride and groom (and their designer!) have spent a ton of energy and thought and time and money on. I love seeing these special handmade altars! They bring natural beauty to a space that the couple will remember well for the rest of their lives.
But as a wedding photographer, there’s one part of the ceremony site that should be given a little more love, and that’s the area directly behind the aisle. The backdrop, if you will, of your grandparents, your parents, your maids and yourself will be processing.
It’s true that no one will ever notice and perhaps no one will care. But having an arbor, a drape, vines of flowers, anything to break up a blank wall or an exit door might be a good investment.
Just a thought.
Flower time! This time it’s a sweet, colorful bouquet from Kathryn Smith, one of my favorite floral designers in the South Bay and Monterey Bay. Purples, deep reds, white and a tiny hint of orange. Perfect for Mission Ranch in Carmel!
Kathryn and I both are preferred vendors at Tehama, which is how I first got to know her. Her hubby helps her every time she’s setting up – such a sweet man, too!

I’ve been seeing a lot of dogs lately, and not just any dogs, oh no! Seriously adorable dogs, funny dogs, dogs that get into your face, and in one occasion, ones that get into the CAKE! :/

Showdog in the making! This adorable little pup was in the park while Lauren & Jeff and I were shooting our e-session.

Well we WERE in the way...these two came barrellassin' down the path in front of their owner and headed straight for Heather. I think they knew Heather and Andrew loved dogs?

A face a momma needs to learn to love - this boxer mix was just hangin' out, waiting for her owner to stop talking to his buddy and get back in the car already. Michelle & Mike and I saw her towards the end of our e-session outside the Hotel Valencia.
So here we were at Sophie & Boe’s wedding, at the rustic and charming Graeser Winery. Not only does the winery have two huge dogs who have the run of the place, but Sophie & Boe’s furry girl was there too! Meet the FlowerDog…

Are you gonna eat that?

When you're a great dane, you can have cake whenever you want - who needs a knife!
More on Sophie & Boe’s wedding later – it was so gorgeous and I got to be superninja! More later…
I was so excited, I opened the huge box and there sat my new flushmount sample. It’s a company called Album Epoca, with sumptious leather and a gorgeous canvas cover. Wanna see?
Very cool – the parent album “family” is an exact duplicate with the canvas cover and the dark brown leather. The tiny book “friends” is a copy you can keep in your purse or give to close friends. They have another one called Best Friends which is a larger book clone but someone’s already claimed it – the wedding planners for the couple that’s featured in the album!
